Meet the jury #IMDAwards2024

The fifth edition of the Indian Music Diaries Awards is set to honor excellence in the Indian independent music scene, and at its helm are the distinguished members of the jury panel. Comprising acclaimed music critics, prolific writers, seasoned singer/songwriters, and visionary music directors, they bring a wealth of expertise and passion to the table. We are honored to welcome aboard them as their discerning ears and discerning insights promise to steer the awards towards recognizing the finest talents and achievements in industry.

1) Amit Gurbaxani

A Mumbai based journalist, Amit Gurbaxani specialises in writing about the Indian music industry. He has been a features writer for over two decades and has his work published in Billboard, Firstpost, India Today, Music Business Worldwide, Red Bull, and The Hindu, to name just a few. He is also the co – host of The Indian Music Charts Podcast, the country’s No.1 music commentary podcast.

2) Neel Adhikari

A Kolkata/Mumbai based singer/songwriter, composer, and music director, Neel Adhikari is known for his work as a composer for the well acclaimed series ‘Little Things.’ His other projects include being a composer for ‘What The Folks,’ ‘Laakhon Mein Ek,’ ‘Why Cheat India,’ ‘Thinkistan Season 2,’ ‘Afsos,’ ‘Hasmukh,’ ‘Kia & Cosmos,’ ‘Ludo,’ and many more. Neel was also in several bands namely Five Little Indians, Gandu Circus and Neel and The Lightbulbs. Currently he’s on the precipe if two web shows and one movie release while also performing a solo singer songwriter.

3) Arjun S Ravi

Arjun S Ravi is the writer of the documentary series ‘Standing By,’ that covers the history of Western Music in India from the 1930s to present day. Be it the origins and stories of Jazz in Kolkata in the 1960s, the birth of Indian metal or the Indie pop phase from the 90s, he always has valuable insights to share.

4) Nirmika Singh

An acclaimed music critic and journalist who’s had a decade of experience in her field, Nirmika Singh is also an accomplished poet and lyricist. She is a multi-faceted entrepreneurial creative leader who’s also the youngest music critic to hold the position of Executive Editor at Rolling Stone India.
